Looking Ahead To 2021

Good news, everyone – 2020 will be over in a few hours.

After a year of illness, turmoil, death, and all sorts of unpleasantness, we’re sadly staring down the barrel of much of the same in 2021.

COVID is still rife, and as long as medical advice tells people to wear a mask there will be idiots that won’t.

Looking inward, I’ve set a few goals to hit this year to make it more tolerable for not only me, but my family. Here we go.

Move House

God, this is the biggest one by far. I love our flat, but we’ve simply outgrown it now that Jackson not only walks, but runs, sprints, climbs, jumps, and tries to grab EVERYTHING.

I’ve got a corner of our bedroom that I use as an office, but the prospect of a move opens up the possibility of a larger room, a larger desk, and room to stretch my legs.

Here’s hoping for news in the coming days.

Make Some Music Again

I didn’t appreciate how much of a creative outlet music was until I couldn’t play for the year.

We recorded Better Days on the day before we went into a national lockdown, and I’ve not seen the guys in Counties since, through COVID and just generally all of us being busy.

A few of the guys have other bands now, but I’m really hopeful we can put out some new music this year.

I’m also glad that the house we’re hopefully buying will allow me to use my office space as a studio. I’ve been listening to a lot of different music this year, so I’m looking forward to experimenting with a MIDI keyboard and some samples.

Streaming

In 2020, I started streaming, and while it was tough to stick to a schedule (with a flat and an eighteen-month-old), I did a few streams for work that reached around 40,000 impressions on Facebook.

With that in mind, I’ll be putting together a schedule in the coming weeks for more regular content once we move. I’ll need to get some new lighting, but I think it’ll be a really fun way to share content.

Pivoting To Tech Content

With regards to writing as a freelancer, my role at Gfinity means I’ll be pivoting to tech-focused content going forward, since gaming content will be part of my day job.

With that in mind, I’ll be looking to branch out further with new potential clients.

So, there you have it. A few goals for 2021. Admittedly, I’d like to fill the list with friends I want to see, family events, and more, but the current world circumstances make that trickier.

Here’s hoping things start to look up soon.
