Jobs and Jackson
14th February, 2021 - Blog
Hey everyone, first blog in a while.
I hope you’re all keeping well and staying safe in these crazy times. We’ll hopefully be moving house soon, which sounds a bit of a logistical nightmare in the middle of a pandemic but still, it’ll be nice to get out of Southend (I’ve lived here on and off since 2012, and for the bulk of that time I was working here, too!).
Speaking of work, I had a bit of an announcement to make last week. After several months as Deputy Editor, I was promoted to Editor-In-Chief of Gfinity.net.
Some personal news: I’m now Editor-In-Chief of @Gfinity
This is kind of a huge deal for me, but I’m thankful for the support I’ve been shown on my journey so far and I’m excited to do my best to take the site to the next level.

In just over a year I’ve gone from freelance news writer to the EIC role, and that’s testament to the team in place to produce consistently incredible results. I won’t deny that there’s certainly added pressure that comes with the new role, but having helped grow the site from hitting a few million to going on to hit multiple milestones and breaking our traffic records, I feel it’s a really good opportunity to put my stamp on things.
Perhaps most excitingly, it means I’m now able to commission freelance writers, which feels like coming full circle and offering a chance to give back to a community that helped me reach this point.
We also took Jackson to go and view a nursery yesterday, and he loved it. I can’t believe he’s two in May, and as cheeky as he can be, and as much as I’m going to miss him while he’s there, I can’t wait for him to make friends.
Between all of that and our impending move, Frankie and I will soon be in a position to start planning our wedding. It’s our fourth Valentines Day together today, and I can’t think of anyone I’d rather be locked down with.
Ciao for now,
Lloyd
