‘Music Took Everything That I Ever Had To Give’

What’s up, everyone?

Been a while since I blogged, but I’m back with somewhat of a bittersweet announcement – Counties is no more.

I’ve been part of this band, in some way, since my early twenties. I’m now 31, and it’s become a numbers game:

  • 4 – Mortgages
  • 3 – Members running their own businesses
  • 2 – Members that are married
  • 1 – Member with a little one

This band has been responsible for some of the best moments of my life. The packed out shows, the days spent recording, evenings spent in the studio chatting for hours.

It’s also been a musical outlet that kept me together through tougher times – through breakups, through familial issues, and, of course, through Tom’s death which hit harder than anything else.

We endured my petulant, “we’re gonna be big, one day” phase, but we’ve slowly settled into just being really good friends – and that’s really all I can ask for.

The good news, though, is that the five of us will continue to remain close friends, and there’s nothing to say we won’t jam together at some point in time.

For now, though, I think my musical journey is over, barring any occasional demo-ing. I think as much as I love performing, I love writing it more, so who knows in that regard.

Still, if you’re feeling as nostalgic as I am, be sure to check out everything we’ve released so far here.

Two EPs, one standalone single, and one re-release that meant the world later, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we did.
